چکیده

The fundamental ideas of wavelets are introduced within the context of mathematical physics. We present essential background notions of mathematical bases, and discuss Fourier, polynomial, and wavelets bases in this light. We construct several types of wavelets and wavelet-like bases and illustrate their use in algorithms for the solution of a variety of integral and di erential equations.

A linear algebraic approach to representing and computing finite elements

We use standard ideas from numerical linear algebra plus orthogonal bases for polynomials to compute abstract finite elements. We express nodal bases in terms of orthogonal ones. This paradigm allows us to differentiate polynomials, evaluate local bilinear forms, and compute with affine equivalent elements. It applies not only to Lagrangian elements, but also to Hermite elements, H(div) and H(c...

Positive Bases in Numerical Optimization

The theory of positive bases introduced by C. Davis in 1954 does not appear in most modern texts on linear algebra but has re-emerged in publications in optimization journals. In this paper some simple properties of this highly useful theory are highlighted and applied to both theoretical and practical aspects of the design and implementation of numerical algorithms for nonlinear optimization.

G-Frames, g-orthonormal bases and g-Riesz bases

G-Frames in Hilbert spaces are a redundant set of operators which yield a representation for each vector in the space. In this paper we investigate the connection between g-frames, g-orthonormal bases and g-Riesz bases. We show that a family of bounded operators is a g-Bessel sequences if and only if the Gram matrix associated to its denes a bounded operator.

A Numerical Approach for Solving of Two-Dimensional Linear Fredholm Integral Equations with Boubaker Polynomial Bases

In this paper, a new collocation method, which is based on Boubaker polynomials, is introduced for the approximate solutions of a class of two-dimensional linear Fredholm integral equationsof the second kind. The properties of two-dimensional Boubaker functions are presented. The fundamental matrices of integration with the collocation points are utilized to reduce the solution of the integral ...
